안녕하세요, 여러분!
Hi all! I hope you are doing well and we only have one more day before the weekend!
I would like to tell you what I’ve been thinking about how to run the course. Obviously this is just what I came up with and I’m open to your opinions and making necessary changes that seem more practical and promising. So, let me talk about it first and you let me know what you think!😃
In the span of three months of my supervision, I would like to divide the course into three different modules.
Module 1: Master Hangul (1 month)
I know there are students who have learned Hangul before joining this course, but there will be many students who haven’t learned the Korean writing system yet. So, we are going to start watching lesson videos learning Hangul. For those of you who know all the letters, pronunciation and whatnot might think you won’t have to do anything for the first month, but be prepared!😵 I’m going to make exercises that you will find challenging, but I believe that it’s going to reinforce what you already know and take your reading ability and pronunciation to the next level.
I would like to get started with this module sometime in December. I’m aware that everyone is going to start getting really busy for the holiday season, so I won’t ask you to do a lot of work but I’m thinking of going over the basic consonants before Christmas. This will mostly require you to watch the lessons and practice on your own for the most part and we will start getting to know each other better before we get together again in the new year. How does this sound?)
Module 2 & 3: Basic Grammar Part. 1 & 2 (2 months)
We will get back together after the hectic Christmas break in the beginning of January and finish off Module 1. Then, at some point in January, we are going to start learning the basic grammar of the Korean language. You are going to watch a series of lessons that will teach you a number of essential grammar patterns that you need to know to construct simple sentences in Korean. And because by this time, you will understand how the Korean writing system works and know how to read Korean, I’m going to start giving you some words to learn every day to expand your vocabulary. I’m sure you understand the importance of it, because you can’t build any sentences without any words! So I’m going to upload a daily vocab sheet like the following in the course.
Each page will consist of 8 different words, but as you can see, the left page is marked as day 1 and the right page is day 2. So, I would like you to memorize 4 new words a day. There are two example sentences that include the word and they are for the students who have learned a little more than the beginners.
In addition, I’m going to send you one new verb every day that’ll look like this!
So even though it’s just one verb, you will have the verb in many different conjugations. Obviously, you won’t need to go through all of them in the beginning, but as we progress and learn more grammar patterns, this will come in very handy. In total, the goal I would like to set for you is 5 new words (4 nouns + 1 verb) every day for Module 2 and 3. I used to memorize 50 English words every day when I was learning English, so I hope you don’t think I’m asking too much from you!🥲
But, I do know everyone is different and learns at a different pace. So, even though I’m setting a goal for you, it’s not going to be mandatory. If you can’t keep up with it, then you will lose your motivation and will want to give up way too early in the course. There can be many reasons you can’t do as much as others: your work schedule could be busier than your classmates, you have kids to take care of, you just like to take your time and learn stuff and more. And this is why I showed you the “Miracle 66” challenge template in the last email so that you can set your own goal that has taken everything into consideration. You just need to make sure you are doing what you can do every day and I’ll be happy with it.
And as we start Module 1, we will also start watching a K-drama and I picked “Hospital Playlist” for you, because I believe it has a lot of both funny and realistic interactions that repeat many commonly used phrases and words. There will be one lesson video that you will need to watch every day from Monday to Friday and you will have the opportunity to see some real-life examples of the grammar pattern you learned that day by watching an episode of the show. And we are going to keep adding more grammar patterns so you can accumulate what you have learned as much as possible. (I’m not entirely sure how this part is going to go for everyone but hopefully it works!)
This is pretty much everything that comes to my mind right now, so I’ll stop here. But, please let me know what you think and maybe you have an idea to make this better, so feel free to share!
For those of you who are still considering but haven’t signed up yet, you only have one day left and the registration is going to be shut down for a long time, not to mention the price that’s going to go up a lot more! So, hurry up and take your seat in the class!

감사합니다!
The plan sounds good and I like how you are taking into consideration everyone's life and work schedules. I've taken a few lessons before but I am eager to learn from you.
I think the way the course is set up looks great! It'll definitely be a challenge, but that will be good, and I'm so excited to be able to start putting things together and understanding everything better, especially things like grammar. This was already asked, but I'm also curious about the length of the video lessons and how much of the drama we'll be watching, especially if it's supposed to be every day.
Also the fact that you memorized 50 words a day is insane to me. 😱 Will you have any tips on memorizing words so we actually remember them?
