안녕하세요 여러분!
Hello everyone!
It took a while since last time I sent you a message, I apologize.🙏🏻 I got sick a couple of times over Christmas & New Year holidays, so that was not fun, but now I’m fully recovered and feeling great!
Over the break, I had a random idea and it’s about how content creators call their followers. There is one Korean food creator, aka Doobydobap, and she calls her followers “Doobies” which is pretty cute. Actually, many followers of mine suggested coming up with something for my own followers but I never really wanted to have one, maybe because I thought the idea of having a name for my followers was cringey? It could also be that I never came up with anything that I liked. And one day, I this word “fighting” came to my mind and I started thinking about it. The more I thought about it, the more I got hooked onto it. It’s an English word but is being used in a totally different way in Korea and it’s probably the most cheerful and encouraging word you can find in the Korean language. So, I would like to call you guys…
“fighters”
We are fighters who don’t give up on learning Korean and we cheer on other Korean learners and wish them good luck! We are like a team… Aigoo Fighters!
Maybe you don’t like it and I might also end up not liking it at all sometime in the future, but I just wanted to share this trivial idea I had over the past few weeks. Thank you very much for listening to my gibberish.
Let’s talk about learning Korean now.
One of my goals this year is to maintain consistency in ideally everything I do: teaching Korean, sending a newsletter every week, learning Spanish and Indonesian, going to the gym and so many more. And this is actually something I’d like to talk about today.
Consistency cannot be overlooked. I believe it is by far the most important thing when it comes to learn a language. If you have been studying Korean for quite some time now, you would clearly know by now that it’s a long journey. You have to become a fighter in a long war! (Maybe this is why I want to call you a fighter😂) A lot of people struggle to stay consistent and that’s why some people fail to lose weight, sleep early as well as making bed in the morning which doesn’t even seem like a hard one to fail. But, indeed it’s very challenging to become consistent and that’s why learning a language is not easy.
If you want to lose weight, you have to exercise regularly and if you want to lose weight, you have to eat a healthy diet for some time to see any noticeable changes in your body. Trying to become consistent at something is like building a habit. So, how can you build a habit? As a matter of fact, there is one study that says although how long it takes to build a new habit can vary widely depending on the behavior, the person, and the circumstances. On average, it takes a little more than 2 months before a new behavior becomes automatic — 66 days to be exact. (You can read more about the study here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3505409/pdf/bjgp62-664.pdf)

So, I created a template to try and I would like to share it with you, so you can also try. You can try building a habit that you’ve always wanted to have or something that you’ve tried in the past but failed achieving it. I just started doing mine 4 days ago and this is what it looks like:
I’ve tried this last year and had a limited but meaningful success. Even though I may not have achieved building a habit that has lasted until now, I had witnessed a significant change during the challenge period. So, I’ll share the template with you and I would like you to give it a try and let me know if it helps you build your desired habit.
Download the template “Build the Habit You’ve Always Wanted” by clicking here!
I strongly suggest printing them out and hand write your journal every day instead of doing it digitally because it doesn’t really work based on my past experience. Just take 5 minutes of your time before going to bed and that’s all it takes! I’ll be sharing my progress with you and you can also let me know how you are doing in the comment section when the topic is brought up! I hope you enjoy and eventually see positive results!
I’ll talk to you guys again next week! Have a good rest of your weekend!
감사합니다!
